Qatari charities' team visits West Darfur

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A delegation from Qatari charitable organisations paid a visit to the city of Al-Junaynah, the capital of West Darfur state. The visit falls within the framework of the implementation of the second phase of the Qatari projects aimed at promoting peace in Darfur.

The DRA Commissioner for Voluntary Return and Resettlement Azhari Ahmed Shata said the visit by Qatari charitable organisations' delegation was aimed at assessing the implementation of the second phase of the Qatari projects in Darfur and enhancing efforts made by the signatories of the Doha document to speed up the implementation of the peace agreement.

He lauded the achievements made by the Qatari initiative in Darfur to promote and consolidate peace and stability, adding that Qatar announced in 2013 five model villages in all five states of Darfur in the first phase.

The second phase, which is currently being implemented, includes 10 model villages in Darfur states, the DRA Commissioner said.
