Qatari bourse market cap shrinks QR7bn


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index dropped 149.02 points, or 1.25 percent when the bourse closed trading Wednesday at 11,787.11 points.

The market capitalization decreased by over QR7bn to QR628.05bn from QR635.11bn registered Tuesday.

The daily turnover dropped to QR197.64m with a volume of 3,917,035 shares changing hands from 2,861 transactions compared with QR220.69m with a volume of 4,189,240 shares from 2,571 transactions registered Tuesday.

Indices of one sector gained marginally today while six declined.

Consumer Goods and Services index gained 0.29 percent when it closed at 7,344.60 points while Telecoms index declined 1.81 percent to 1,144.33 points.

QSE Total Return Index dropped 1.25 percent to 18,321.36 points, QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index dropped 0.99 percent to 4,581.89 points and QSE All Share Index dropped 1.05 percent to 3,161.99 points.

From the 43 companies listed on QSE, shares of 40 saw trading today. From these 31dropped, five advanced and four remained unchanged.
