(MENAFN- The Peninsula) At least 18 people have been killed in clashes between Arabs and Berbers in Algeria's desert town of Ghrdaia, with several businesses burned down, medical sources and state media said on Wednesday.

The violence broke out over the weekend, with security forces sending reinforcements in a bid to calm down the renewed clashes that first took place in late 2013. Clashes intensified on Monday and Tuesday night.
