ECB leaves emergency funding to Greece unchanged at 89bn euros

(MENAFN- AFP) The European Central Bank on Wednesday decided to leave its stop-gap credit facility to Greece, known as Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA), unchanged at 89 billion euros ($99 billion), a banking source said.

The decision by the ECB's board of governors was expected. The institution has kept its ELA cap unmodified since June 27, when Greece called its referendum that rejected bailout terms from creditors. On Tuesday, though, it tightened conditions for Greek banks' access to the aid.
