Dubai — Cutting-edge solutions play a key role in fighting sophisticated and sustained cyber-attacks in the Middle East according to an industry specialist.

“Organisations can stay one step ahead of cyber criminals by rolling out Carbon Black solution. With its prevention detection and live response capabilities including the one-button host isolation the cutting-edge system leverages contextual intelligence to quickly identify threats reduce dwell time and stop data exfiltration” David Flower managing director for Europe Middle East and Africa at Bit9 + Carbon Black told Khaleej Times in an interview at Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (Gisec) 2015.

Bit9 + Carbon Black is emphasising the need for proactive and continuous monitoring and recording of all activities on endpoints and servers to prevent data breaches during the Gisec.

The company showcased the newest capabilities of Carbon Black the leading endpoint threat detection and response platform and its role in the fight against sophisticated and sustained cyber attacks in the region.

Flower said that the Middle East is one of the important regions for the company. “We have about 35 clients in the region mainly in retail oil and gas retail and financial sectors. The company has its experts’ team based in Dubai which also looks after Saudi Arabia market.”

“The solution plays a crucial role especially in light of growing incidents of data breaches in the region. In the UAE more than 90 per cent of ICT decision-makers in companies ranging from 500 to 3000 employees believe that their organisations will be attacked in 2015 and 2016. About 65 per cent of data breaches happen in company endpoints where the most valuable data resides. These figures should be a wake-up call for any company to strengthen their capabilities in warding off these online threats which can result in substantial financial and data losses.”
