Storms and tornadoes wreak havoc in Germany


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) A tornado that struck a south-west German town late on Tuesday has caused damage estimated at between 8 million and 10 million euros (8.8 million - 11 million dollars) and injured several
people, dpa quoted local mayor Ulrich Armbruester as telling dpa on Wednesday.

About 100 houses in Framersheim were damaged when the storm whipped
through the town of 1,600 people in Rhineland-Palatinate, ripping the
roofs off several buildings.

Deutsche Bahn announced that parts of its railway infrastructure had
been damaged due to falling trees, causing delays to its service.

Gale-force winds and torrential rains wreaked havoc in other parts of
Germany overnight.

In Hessisch-Lichtenau in the state of Hesse, thunder struck an
apartment building, causing 150,000 euros worth of damage.
