(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Myanmar will hold its next general elections on November 8, dpa cited an unnamed senior election official as saying.
The election, which was to be formally announced later in the day,
will pit the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP),
against the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD), led by
Aung San Suu Kyi.
The country has been reforming and opening up since the USDP won
elections in 2010 and the country changed to a nominally civilian
government.
Suu Kyi won a seat in a later by-election to become the opposition
leader in parliament.
