(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) exceeded JD2 billion during the first half of 2015, an increase of 2 percent from the same period in 2014, according to a statistical report.
Exports by certificates of origin issued by the ACI during the first half of 2015 reached JD 2.101billion, compared to JD2.056billion for the same period last year.
According to the report, exports to Arab Asian countries decreased to JD1.140 billion compared to JD1.148 billion for the same period last year.
Also, the report shows that ACI's exports to Arab African countries dropped 7 percent at JD145 million during the first half of 2015 compared to JD156 million for the same period in 2014.
Despite a 24 percent decline in the chamber's exports to the Iraqi market during the first half of this year, Iraq maintained its position at the top importing market for Jordanian products worth JD351 million compared to JD462 million in the same period of last year.
In the report, which was issued Tuesday, Saudi Arabia ranked second with imports valued at JD273 million, followed by India at JD211 million and the United States at JD196 million, while the United Arab Emirates accounted for about JD161 million.
Exports to Turkey rose 162 percent, totalling about JD66 million, Palestine recorded 54 percent with JD58 million, Indonesia and Sudan by 35 percent to reach about JD46 million and JD39 million, respectively.
The report shows, exports to Arab Spring countries, particularly Syria and Yemen recorded a decrease of 48 percent both individually, while Egypt's imports decreased 6 percent and Libya by 13 percent.
