Oman Post plans to rent out its properties to generate additional revenue


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Post may rent out sections of its properties across the sultanate to bring in more revenues. 

The postal service is awaiting the Ministry of Finance's nod to this proposal.

'If the proposal is approved we plan to rent out part of our premises to companies and business houses while continuing with our services in other sections' a source in Oman Post told Muscat Daily.

It will make necessary investments to improve the infrastructure before the premises are rented out. 'It is being done to generate revenues. We have a lot of land and our post offices are in prime locations across the country which is an added advantage. This way we can utilise our properties better' he said.

At present Oman Post has 88 offices and 66000 post boxes across the country. It has 20 offices in Muscat16 in North and South Batinah 14 in North and South Sharqiyah 13 in Dhofar 11 in Dakhliyah five in Dhahirah four in Musandam three in Buraimi and two in Al Wusta.

In another step towards improving its services Oman Post is planning to set up a call centre to address customer queries.

Oman Post has also put in place a new strategy to develop its human resources.

It had recently organised training courses in Muscat where the subjects ranged from ethics at work place promotion of values job loyalty and performance upgrades. Such courses will be extended to employees of all its 88 offices.
