Oman- HD animated series puts spotlight on ROP's work

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The ROP has launched a unique crime-fighting animation series Troop9 which features realistic portrayals of scenes in Oman and touches upon issues such as infiltration worker exploitation and human trafficking drug use and electronic frauds.

The ROP is calling the series - for broadcast during Ramadan – the 'world's first police series in both 3D and full-HD'.  It went on air on July 2. 'By airing the Troop9 series we will reveal the core function and operational conduct of the ROP and through reassurance encourage a wider sense of community in the sultanante' reads a statement on the series' official website www.troop9.om

The show mixes tackling hard crime with humorous asides. Beyond the police team characters include an exploited expatriate worker (complete with accented broken Arabic); traffickers conmen; and Omanis ranging from gas cylinder delivery truck drivers to the well-off driving slick cars and a naïve young couple.

The show provides insight into unseen police work that leads to headlines of the cases solved. One episode shows a policewoman using a radar to monitor a ship smuggling infiltrators. In another GPS is used to track a runaway and how a laboratory detects forged passports.

Troop9 is a mix of NYPD Blue Grand Theft Auto and the Emirati animation series Freej and brings to life and give a voice to so many 'characters' in Omani society. Each episode runs close to 15 minutes and is broadcast daily at 7.45pm on Majan channel.

A few episodes continue off each other but generally  each features its own set of characters and themes. Every episode is also uploaded on YouTube – the first was uploaded on July 2 and there have been five so far.
