BAE Systems Al Salam partnership on Typhoon aircraft makes progress
(MENAFN- Arab News) The partnership between BAE Systems and Al-Salam Aircraft Company has been hailed for its success in advancing local repair and maintenance capability on Royal Saudi Air Force Typhoon aircraft.
Andy Carr BAE Systems Saudi Arabia CEO & MD said: 'The work we have completed as a partnership has been critical in working toward our Typhoon In-Kingdom industrialization objectives.'
Monther M. Thayeb BAE Systems spokesman and PR and communications director said: 'As part of the respective "In-Kingdom industrial participation commitments the businesses have successfully established local Saudi capability that will enable repair maintenance and overhaul of windscreen and transparency on the RSAF jets from June 2015 onward.'
This latest achievement follows the successful transfer of Typhoon avionic capabilities to the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) in June 2014 he said.
'The success has been made possible through the collaboration of BAE Systems and Al-Salam to install and commission aerospace ground equipment into an Al-Salam facility last year' he added.
This was followed by the delivery of on-site training in the first quarter of 2015. Certification of BAE Systems supplier approval was completed recently allowing the work to happen in Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Fallatah Al-Salam Aircraft Company president said: 'We are delighted that the collaboration between our companies has been successful in bringing new capability to the Kingdom. We are looking forward to working with BAE Systems to achieve further success in this area.'
