Brazil stocks lower at close of trade Bovespa down 0.70%


(MENAFN- FxPro) Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.70% to hit a new 3-months low.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 3.72% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.49% or 0.75 points to end at 22.25 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.22% or 0.40 points to 12.83 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6), which fell 3.62% or 1.28 points to trade at 34.09 at the close. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 3.32% or 0.79 points to end at 23.00 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was down 2.79% or 0.47 points to 16.35.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 185 to 130 and 5 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.32% or 0.79 to 23.00.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.54% to 31.27.

Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.10 to $1168.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.93% or 2.73 to hit $52.80 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.28% or 1.62 to trade at $125.35 .

USD/BRL was up 0.11% to 3.1388, while EUR/BRL fell 0.40% to 3.4707.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.43.
