Kuwait- MP Presents 'Query' To Minister Issa Regarding Fake Certificates

(MENAFN- Arab Times) MP Kamel Al- Awadhi has presented a query to the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Issa regarding news item published by New York Times recently which said thousands of fake academic certificates have been issued worldwide, of which 3000 fake certificates were issued for GCC citizens by 'Axact' which claims to be the largest IT company in Pakistan, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

He wanted to know if the ministry has received official information on the issue from concerned authorities in Pakistan or USA, and the procedures taken by the ministry to look into the issue based on the information at hand.

He inquired if the university in whose name fake certificates have been issued is already accredited by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education. He asked about the number of Kuwaiti citizens holding certificates from the university and the names of citizens obtaining scholarships to study there if the answer is yes.

He also inquired about steps the ministry has taken to deal with the issue, especially with the affected students and their certificates, if the allegations are proven. He further explained the social networking sites that published news about the aforementioned company claimed it runs about 370 fake academic sites of universities and secondary schools, and it's clear that many Kuwaiti citizens hold certificates from such universities.

He also said the issue has become the talk of the entire world and in Pakistan in particular after the owner of the company and his top officials were arrested on charges of fraud, electronic cheating and moneylaundering.

He added the security systems after arresting the suspects discovered a store containing thousands of empty certificates of a fake university, and it threatens the future of the country and jobs occupied by the holders of fake academic certificates in particular.
