Qatar- Passenger figures for Cathay double

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Flight loads on Cathay Pacific's Doha-Hong Kong service have consistently exceeded 85% and passenger figures have doubled compared to last year, the airline has said in a statement.

The Doha service introduced last year has seen "tremendous response and the airline is enjoying great results" on this route, the statement points out.

Noting that the Qatar market presents "exciting opportunities" for Cathay Pacific, the airline has stressed that the enhancement of services includes the "Life Well Travelled" campaign and refreshed branding design, which is about a "customer experience that is more enjoyable, simple and relevant to what passengers aspire to today".

Cathay Pacific offers residents of the country an extensive network that includes connections to China (23 destinations), Japan (eight), Korea (three), Thailand (three), Taiwan (three), Australia and New Zealand (seven) and the US West Coast (two).

Also offered are travel packages and promotions with premium partners in Qatar.

"Since commencement of the Doha-Hong Kong service in March 2014 following the announcement of a strategic agreement with oneworld alliance partner Qatar Airways, our Qatari passenger figures have been constantly on the rise," the statement adds.

Cathay Pacific's Doha-Hong Kong route is serviced by an Airbus A330-300 with a two-class configuration that includes the business class and long-haul economy class.

Referring to the high season in Qatar, the statement said this includes the Eid al-Fitr holidays after the end of Ramadan as well as Eid al-Adha, the winter season, particularly during December and January, and the Easter holidays.

Highlighting its cargo services in Qatar, the airline said: "On the Airbus A330-300 that serves the Doha-Hong Kong route on a daily basis, we offer a capacity of around 12-15 tonnes of cargo in the belly of the aircraft. And, with Hong Kong having established itself as a major financial, business and trading hub in the Far East and Qatar being a fast-rising, major economic market, Cathay Pacific's cargo service has enjoyed tremendous strength towards North and South East Asia as well as the South West Pacific."

Finally, the statement lists the top leisure destinations from Qatar, referring to connections to Bangkok, Australia (six key points), New Zealand (offering only one stop to go to Auckland without the need to transit Australia), Los Angeles, China, Bali, North America and Hong Kong.
