(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ooredoo has sponsored the Qatar University team for the World University Summer Games 2015 (Summer Universiade), with the company's logo being present on all uniforms.
Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation. An estimated 14,000 athletes from 150 countries are participating in this year's event, which is being held until July 14.
Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of community and public relations at Ooredoo, said: "Ooredoo believes in championing youth and enabling them to grow to the best of their ability."
To show its support and wish the university students luck, Ooredoo held a ceremony to present some of the athletes with their new sporting uniforms. Ooredoo also asked customers to take to social media and online to support the team's efforts in the competition by using the company's network.
Ooredoo "supports grassroots, national and international-level sports". It has partnered with popular football club Paris Saint-Germain and local champion Nasser al-Attiyah, and also hosts an annual marathon to encourage people to live healthier lifestyles.
