S. Korea's foreign luxury car sales hit record-high in June


(MENAFN) Industry data showed that foreign luxury car sales in South Korea hit a record high in June amid the outbreak of MERS that dampened private consumption, Xinhua reported.

Foreign automakers sold a combined 24,275 vehicles here in June, up 32 percent from a month earlier, according to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA).

The June sales topped 24,000 units for the first time since 1987 when the country began importing foreign autos. From a year earlier, the monthly sales surged 36.4 percent.

For the first six months of this year, foreign car sales amounted to 119,832 units, up 27.1 percent from the same period of last year. It accounted for 16.57 percent of the total auto market share.
