Plight of Rohingyas

(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the report 'KSA seeks end to repression of Rohingyas' (July 5). The other day I saw a documentary on Rohingyas and other Muslim communities living in Myanmar (Burma). I was shocked to see the brutality of Buddhist monks. The leader of the Buddhist group involved in the killings of Muslim in Myanmar appeared to be an insane person. He cannot be compared with Daesh or Taliban. His arguments against the Myanmar's Muslim community were silly and without any basis. The documentary showed him spitting venom against Muslims of the country. His speech did not make any sense. Surprisingly the global media did not raise uproar over the condition of Muslims in Myanmar. Nobody questioned the very basics of Buddhist ideology. Had any Muslim been involved in the killing of a Buddhist our religion would have been questioned. This approach needs to be changed. The mainstream western media should also call them as Buddhist terrorists. Of course I don't mean it. We Muslims respect every nation and its ideology. It is just a handful of people who are hell bent on distorting the image of Muslims. Osman Ali Riyadh
