Kuwait Nat'l Karate Team Shine At Youth Champ'ship In Croatia


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Kuwait national Karate team clinched the fifth position worldwide for juniors at the Youth championships held in Croatia for youth and under 21 year olds. The tournament which concluded on Saturday saw Kuwaiti players Seyed Mohammad Abdullah competing in individual Kata under 21 years old, Dhari Dekkan in individual kata junior under 14, Noah Hajih individual kumite juniors under 45 kg weight and Ahmad Al-Kandari in individual kumite juniors under 57 kg weight earn gold medals.

Two silver medals were won by Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi in the single-kumite junior weight under 63kg and Abdullatif in the individual Kumite youth under the weight of 68 kg.

The five bronze medals were won by Salman in the Kata junior and Mohammed Babacan in the individual kata youth and Syed Sulaiman Abdullah in the individual kata under 21 years old and Mohammed Sabti in the single-kumite junior weight under 57kg and Ahmed Al-Kandari in the single-kumite youth weight under 55 kilograms.

The President of the Kuwait Karate Federation Sheikh Khalid Al-Abdullah in a telephone call from his residence in New York with the President of karate delegation at the World Championships Ahmed bin Yousef, congratulated him and the team on this new achievement of the team clinching the fifth position in the world championship.

Al- Abdullah said the achievement would not have happened without the sincerity and dedication of Kuwait players in this international forum and hardworking technical and administrative organs of the delegation, along with the great support from the Council of Federation of National teams department.

Al-Abdullah offered thanks to the President of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Sheikh Ahmad al-Mansur and to the Deputy for Sports Ahmed Khazaal for their support in facilitating the performances in the World Championship.

For his part, Ahmed bin Yousef, head of the Blue karate delegation in the World Junior Championships, Youth and U-21, said the achievement which concluded in Croatia all happened in the name of Kuwait.

He said despite the participation of the biggest teams in the world the team started well prepared for the games months in advance which led them to achieving the record four gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

He noted that that the President's support as well as members of the Federation Council administration had a significant impact in facilitating the task to overcome all the obstacles that stood in the way, to offer players the best.

The Blue karate delegation attending the championships comprised of Ahmed bin Yousef and three coaches who are Hawaj, Alaa Badr Hamad and Jaber Al-Otaibi in addition with the 19 players. The World Cup was held in Croatia from July 3 to 5 which preceded Preparatory camp in the same country.
