Masters Chions League gets Pakistan Sri Lanka players

Dubai -— Three Pakistani and two Sri Lankan legends have confirmed their participation in the Masters Champions League (MCL).
According to a MCL spokesperson Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have confirmed their participation for the tournament which is scheduled to be kicked off in the UAE in February.
The three Pakistani players who have enrolled for the Dubai-based hotelier Zafar Shah’s ambitious project are opener Imran Nazir and all rounders Azhar Mehmood and Abdul Razzak. The MCL is planned as a two-week tournament in the UAE in February every year for the next 10 years.
Wasim Akram Adam Gilchrist Brian Lara and Jacques Kallis are the iconic players for the tournament that is backed by big names in the game. Former Australian captain Allan Border and ex-England skipper Graham Gooch are part of the MCL governing council. Dean Jones is coordinating sponsorship and marketing strategy for the event.
During the MCL launch at the Burj Al Arab Shah had assured that all ICC guidelines would be followed. Shah recently concluded a successful week-long tour of Mumbai to firm up the operational details for the tournament.
During the visit Shah met up with a number of key stakeholders and also met a number of prospective broadcasters sponsors and other key members of the fraternity.
The organisers have planned six franchises with each squad comprising 15 players and the online registration for the same has already started. The players will have to be approved by the ICC MCL governing council and the Emirates Cricket Board who are the sanctioning authorities.
