Curtain comes down on Dubai International Holy Quran Award

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) After 20 days of activities, curtains were brought down on the 19th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, DIHQA, at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry last night.

The names of the top winners in both the 'Memorisation' and 'Most Beautiful Recitation' contests will be revealed later during the closing ceremony of the prestigious award to be held at the Cultural and Scientific Association, Al Mamzar, on Wednesday, July 15th.

The 11-day international Quran competition, the main section of the DIHQA, saw 76 contestants from across the globe from June 24th to July 4th. The five-member arbitration committee had earlier disqualified seven memorisers for showing poor performance.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Al Zahid, Head of Media Unit at DIHQA, said that the award spared no effort to post, broadcast, and deliver the award events and activities via all possible mass media platforms and on social networks.

"Interesting daily footage with diverse interviews with contestants, sponsors, and high profile guests is prepared on the award events and activities and transmitted to all local and international mass media," he said.

The media unit also assumes responsibility for all the designs and publications of the award, he added. "Producing documentaries on the award and foreseeing the decorations of the activities are part of our duties as well."
