Islamabad — The inquiry commission constituted to probe allegations of vote rigging in the general elections of 2013 concluded its proceedings on Friday.

The commission may submit report in five days. The three-member commission led by Supreme Court Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk held 39 proceedings in 86 days.

The commission recorded statements of 69 witnesses and wrapped up its proceedings on Friday after Election Commission lawyer Salman Akram Raja completed his arguments and thanked the commission.

Raja explained various objections raised against the ECP on Friday prior to the conclusion of the proceedings.

The chief justice observed that the ECP did not adopt a uniform criteria for printing additional ballots particularly in Punjab. It authorised returning officers to exercise that discretion in Punjab instead of keeping it to itself.
