Arab League condemns attacks on army, police in Sinai


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Council of the Arab League has condemned attacks on Egyptian army and police forces in North Sinai on Wednesday, which left 30 troops killed or injured.

The council said in a statement following an extraordinary meeting held at the level of permanent delegates, that the Arab League strongly supports Egypt in its fight against terrorism.

It emphasized that such "heinous attempts meant to break the will of the Egyptian people and to undermine their safety and regional stability would not work out".

In this regard, it called on all member states to work together to cut off financing for terrorist organizations, and to provide all types of support and help to Egypt and other Arab countries facing terrorist threats.

The council also urged the international community to support Arab efforts to fight growing extremism and terrorism in the Arab world.
