Kuwait financially contributes to the UN activities for women


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's permanent mission to the UN has re-affirmed the Gulf State's advocacy of woman causes, boosting gender equality and enabling the female citizens improve their status at the political, economic, social and educational levels.

The renewed Kuwaiti stance was expressed by Alyaa Al-Muzainee, the mission's diplomatic attachØ£©, addressing a donors' conference held as part of the annual session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, convened at the UN headquarters, late on Wednesday.

Al-Muzaini expressed the State of Kuwait's belief that such equality constitutes the basic motive for development, reiterating the Gulf country's support for the UN agencies for sake of enhancing gender equality and helping the females attain their goals in various sectors.

She also announced earmarking USD 200,000 as a contribution to the UN activities at this level for the period, 2015-2016.

She affirmed necessity of rallying international support and tackling all hurdles standing in face of the women, with emphasis on the distinguished cultures and traditions of each nation.
