Oman- MECA launches centre for monitoring pollution


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has announced the launch of its Pollution Operations Monitoring Centre. 

The state-of-the-art centre will track and record pollution incidents in cooperation with the ROP Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) and the Ministry of Health.

Set up with the support of Maritime Security Centre in the Ministry of Defence and the Directorate General of Meteorology the centre will allow for quick response to incidents that cause pollution. The Pollution Operations Monitoring Centre will also offer immediate assistance to people caught in emergency situations.

It will take steps to deal with emergency cases crises and calamities in order to reduce damage to the environment. It will also monitor the safety and security aspect in the affected area and update the media on the developments in the area.
