Oman- Family seeks financial aid for daughter's cochlear implant

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Parents of a two and a half year old girl with congenital hearing loss are seeking financial aid for a cochlear implant with the help of social workers.

On a doctor's advice Godsi's parents bought a hearing aid for RO1200 but weren't informed that the device was useful only for a person with ten per cent hearing defect. Godsi's hearing loss is over 50 per cent. Fresh consultations with other medical experts revealed that a cochlear implant was a solution but will cost R1.5mn (RO9000 approximately).

Family members said the time window for Godsi is getting smaller as the implant can prove ineffective if delayed for long. The family with a small income is short on financial resources. Godsi's father is a maintenance staffer while her mother works as an assistant in a dental clinic.

'We have solicited help from the public to help the little girl' said P M Jabir community welfare secretary of Indian Social Club Muscat.

Those who wish to donate for the implant can contact Jabir on 99335751 to know how they can go ahead with the process.
