'We Are Kuwaitis First And Sunnis And Shiites Second'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) In this week's Arab Times online poll, readers shared what they as individuals would do to protect Kuwait from terror groups. In the wake of the bomb blast at Imam al Sadiq mosque that shocked Kuwait, the majority stated that they would stay united to fight terror. 33 percent of voters stated that they would stay united and fight back these terror groups. "The aim of the terror act is to cause division and contention among the Kuwaiti people. If we stay united, their plans of bringing turmoil in our country cannot succeed", a young Kuwaiti shared.

Another reader pointed out, "We are Kuwaitis first and Sunni and Shia second. We are united with our Shia brothers and we won't let external forces demean our internal bond of being Kuwaiti." Many were moved by the messages of solidarity shared on social media since the tragedy. "It is very encouraging to see everyone in Kuwait unite and come together as one. I hope this continues and we all start treating one another better", a voter shared.

Another 23 percent of voters affirmed that they would report unusual incidents to their nearest Police Station. "I think every citizen and expatriate should be vigilant and on the lookout for suspicious behavior. If we are all alert, we can foil many attempts." "I think it is important to cooperate with the authorities. Even though security measures can be inconvenient at times, we need to comply for the safety of all", he continued.

16 percent stated that they would not hesitate to report sympathizers of these groups to Ministry of Interior. "If I ever came across an ISIS sympathizer, I would be eager to report him to the authorities. Anyone who preaches and propagates violence and hate should be held accountable." Another 12 percent shared that they would raise their voice against those who misinterpret the Holy Quran. "I think those who use religion to brainwash young men into blowing themselves up instead of teaching them to serve mankind need to be punished. We should always be on the lookout for those who twist Islam for their own benefit", a voter shared. 9 percent felt that they would be better to leave Kuwait and go back to your home country if the situation worsened. "I think it would be best for my family to leave and go back home if the security condition worsened. I travel for work a lot and I would be very anxious leaving my wife and three small kids behind if the situation is precarious", an expatriate shared.

Lastly, 6 percent of the respondents stated that they would stop donating to charity houses of which they are not fully aware. "I don't think I've treated charities with suspicion before. But I've been reading news reports that not all charities may operating honestly. I really don't want my hard earned money being used to fund terrorist groups. I think we should all scrutinize the charities we support to ensure that the money is not misused", a reader shared
