Kuwait Will Come Out Victorious In Its War On Terror: Local Press

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Local newspapers and the state Kuwait News Agency underlined that "Kuwait will come out of its war on terror victorious," under the wise leadership of Their Highnesses the Amir and Crown Prince. In a joint statement, issued after a consultative meeting of chief editors, they said that "Kuwait will remain as it has always been, a land of peace, tolerance, unity and harmony under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah." Together, they expressed "extreme condemnation" of the suicide attack which targeted Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in downtown Kuwait City, and killed 27 people (including the attacker) and injured 227, describing it as "brutal and cowardly." "These acts reflect the danger and deviant nature of a dark and destructive ideology, practiced by 'Takfiri' groups, which runs counter to all Islamic, human and moral principles," read the statement issued by the meeting held at Al-Anba newspaper.

The attendees value the "fatherly role" assumed by His Highness the Amir in tackling the incident and supporting the families of the 27 martyrs, the statement said, adding that the impact of his tour of the location, immediately after its occurrence, is a cause for admiration by citizens and the world.

They also expressed pride and adulation over "the position of the people of Kuwait, in all of their sects and tribal affiliations, on tackling this sedition and forbidding those with evil intentions from carrying out their misdeeds on our peaceful society." The chief editors went on to praise the "tremendous efforts" of the Ministry of Interior, in revealing and arresting the perpetrators of the attack, and safeguarding the nation from threats or plots.

The newspapers and KUNA pledged commitment to their patriotic role and responsibility in encouraging unity between nationals, the statement mentioned, based on a number of factors. These include omitting aggravating and sectarian-provoking discourse and tackling deviant ideology and hateful rhetoric adopted by fundamental groups through focusing on statements that enhance patriotism, moderation and highlighting the dangers of fundamentalism.

Also, cooperating with state bodies in tackling rumours and supporting their efforts in tackling terrorists, and encouraging voluntary, national and awareness initiatives aimed at highlighting patriotic principles and the dangers of terrorism. The press bodies concluded by expressing condolences over the martyrs, wishing those injured a swift recovery and Kuwait, safety and security.
