(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Promising youngster Azlan Amjad overcame a spirited challenge of veteran Mohammed Al Saied to complete a hat-trick of wins at the 15th Radisson Blu-Olympic Sports Squash Tournament.
In the final of the professional category held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Doha on Tuesday night, the 2013 and 2014 champion made it three in a row by emphatically defeating Saied in three straight games 11-7, 11-3, 11-2, in the tournament organised by Qatar Squash Federation (QSF).
The final was a repeat of last year's final wherein Amjad had also emerged on top defeating Saied.
In another exciting Men's A Level final, Umair Zaman defeated Omar Ashraf 3-1 (11-6, 11-3, 9-11, 11-9).
Hamad Al Amri came from two sets down to win the Men's B Level title, defeating Haitham Goudah 3-2 (7-11, 4-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-4), while in the Ladies category, Tokka Khalid overcame the feeble resistance of Gannah Ashraf by posting a 3-0 result.
QSF Board member Mohammed Saleh al Khulaifi was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. QSF Technical Secretary Gamal Rasmi, Olympic Sports representative Xaviera Evangelista and Cabana Club Manager Ahmed Sami were also present.
Around 100 players participated in the championship which was held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The championship was held in ten different categories for both professionals and amateur players under the guidance of QSF.
Players competed in the over-45 years, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 besides Men's Level A, Men's Level B and Ladies event.
Matches of the opening rounds of the junior category were staged at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, while the semi-finals and finals was played at the Radisson Blu Hotel's squash courts.
