UAE- Zero tolerance for dastardly acts: paper

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The terrorist attack on Egyptian Attorney-General Hisham Barakat, which resulted in his death along with a number of other victims, is another heinous crime committed by those with sick minds that seek to spread chaos through the killing of innocent people, commented a UAE daily.

"Such cowardly actions by militants pose a threat not only to peace-loving Egyptians but also to the entire world and call for zero tolerance," said The Gulf Today in an editorial on Wednesday.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has already pledged tougher laws against militants and is rightly considering fast track legal actions to speed up justice.

Whenever Cairo faces such challenging times, the UAE has risen to the occasion and maintained an unwavering stand by extending full support to efforts exerted by Egypt to safeguard its stability and security.

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed full confidence that these terrorist crimes that aim to destabilise social peace and spread violence and do not respect the sanctity of the Holy Month of Ramadan, will not stop Egypt's intensive efforts to achieve stability and fight against terrorism.

At a recent meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and President el-Sisi agreed to enhance joint cooperation in a wide range of common issues.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the UAE's support for Egypt in advancing its development is firm and genuine and springs out of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives and keenness to support efforts that push forward the development and renaissance of Egypt, preserve its security, stability and sovereignty and help realise the aspirations of the Egyptian people for development and decent living.

"Egypt deserves all support in its hour of need to eradicate those extremists who do not respect the most basic principles of humanity," added the daily.

It is good to note that the UAE and the rest of the world stand solidly alongside the Arab Republic of Egypt in combating terrorist acts.

"Those responsible for the attack should be brought to justice. The extremists should be made to understand that the Egyptian spirit is much stronger and cannot be cowed down by their guns," concluded the Sharjah-based daily.
