Kuwait- Parliament approves two draft laws on establishment of sport, youth entities


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The National Assembly Tuesday refered to the government two draft laws pertinent to the establishment of a Public Authority for Sport and another for establishing a Public Authority for Youth after approval in first and second readings.

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah said the two draft laws aim at establishing two specialized entities for youth and sports.

He added that the youth issues are different from sports issues, explaining that the youth activities are not limited to the practice of sports, but aim to build the human being to serve the nation.

He recalled the recent mosque attack incident which necessitaed that the youth play a role in safeguarding the homeland from any deviant thought.

He noted that the National Assembly stressed to His Highness the Amir in the last parliamentary session the importance of giving priority to the issues of youth and sports and will provide a helping hand to the government in order to implement the directives of His Highness the Amir and work to overcome obstacles that may hinder the ambitions of young people.

The draft law on establishing the Public Authority for sport aims, according to a report of the parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sport, to expand opportunities of the collective practice of sport and launch the capacity, capability and creativity of young people in the sports aspects in accordance with the highest international standards in the sports fields.
