Iran keen on deal that rejects extra NPT protocol expansion

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iran's government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said Tuesday that his country is keen on reaching a nuclear deal, but reject additional expansion to protocols attached to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Noboukht said in a press statement that they are "seeking to reach a good deal and views presented by White House spokesman regarding the additional protocol is a point of view from Washington which does not is concern us and cannot be accepted." "A long-term agreement is not an Iranian objective, our position is clear in negotiations," Noboukht added.

Earlier, a spokesman for US delegation in Vienna said that Iran and the P5+1 group decided to push the June 30 deadline of their nuclear negotiations to July 7, in order to overcome technical and political hurdles hampering a final and comprehensive agreement.

Meanwhile, Noboukht denied that a message was conveyed from US President Barack Obama to Iranian officials.

Last night, Iranian Shura Council (parliament) member said that a secret message was conveyed recently by US President Barack Obama to Iranian officials on the Iranian nuclear program.
