Obama offers condolences to Tunisian Pres., UK PM following attacks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US President Barack Obama offered his condolences to Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and UK Prime Minister David Cameron in separate calls on Monday following the terrorist attack on June 26 near Sousse, Tunisia.

In the call with Essebsi, Obama, "extended deep sympathy," a White House statement indicated and, "commended the Tunisian people for the commitment to standing strong and united to reject terrorism." Obama also reaffirmed "readiness to assist with the investigation and pledged to continue strengthening our cooperation on counterterrorism and broader security issues with the Tunisian government." In the call with Cameron, the President also expressed condolences and support as many British citizens were killed in the attack last Friday. The leaders then reaffirmed support to work with their international partners to confront terrorism.

"The President conveyed that the thoughts and prayers of the American people are with the victims, families and loved ones from all countries affected by last Friday's attacks in Tunisia," the statement affirmed.
