Qatar- Advisory Council approves amendment in municipal laws

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Advisory Council yesterday unanimously approved amendment made in Reconciliation Law relating to offences stipulated in some municipal laws.

As per the amendment, in case of reconciliation, the violator will be required to pay one fourth of the maximum fine of the violation. The violator has to approach the authorities for reconciliation within seven days of the registration of violation.

The existing reconciliation law gives 24 hours to violators to approach authorities for reconciliation. If violators approach the authority for reconciliation after seven days then they will have to pay 50 percent of the fine.

As per the amendment reconciliation will be allowed in ten articles of municipal laws. The amendment was made in the reconciliation law of the Municipality No. 17 of 2005. The amendment allows municipalities and concerned departments of municipalities to reconcile some cases before issuance of final order.

The reconciliation will need final approval of either director of the municipality or head of the concerned department. If the violator refuses to pay fine for reconciliation then the case will be referred to concerned authority for further investigation.

Reconciliation will be allowed in laws for cleaning, building regulations law, law for monitoring and regulating Advertisements and public and private properties. The reconciliation will not allowed if the violation is repeated.
