(MENAFNEditorial) Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) -announced that the Kingdom's prime gateway has witnessed continued growth in cargo traffic since the beginning of 2015 and up until May, with year-to-date (YTD) figures recording a notable 7.4% increase to reach 40,099 tons compared to the same period last year. Alternatively, YTD passenger traffic (PAX) declined by 8.1% to come in at 2,655,407 PAX and YTD aircraft movements (ACM) fell by 6.3% to settle at 27,624 ACM, as opposed to 2014.
In May 2015, QAIA handled 8,809 tons as opposed to 7,525 tons of cargo during the same month in 2014, indicating a 17.1% rise. During the month, QAIA received 565,591 PAX compared to 605,564 PAX, representing a 6.6% year-on-year decrease, and registered 5,980 ACM as opposed to 6,323 ACM, representing a 5.4% year-on-year drop, a slight yet positive improvement compared to the start of 2015.
