Samsung sells USD5.28b worth of DRAM in Q1


(MENAFN) South Korea's top tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. saw the sales of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) reach to a record level in the first quarter of this year, Yonhap News reported.

Samsung Electronics shipped DRAM products worth USD5.28 billion in the January-March period, up 41.3 percent from a year earlier, according to the data compiled by industry tracker IHS Technology.

The South Korean tech firm also posted a 44.1 percent share in the global DRAM market, marking the highest level since the 45 percent posted in the third quarter of 2011, the data also showed.

Meanwhile, SK hynix Inc., Samsung's smaller South Korean rival, shipped USD3.31 billion worth of DRAMs over the cited period to take up 27.6 percent of the global market.
