Kuwait opens medical center at Zaatari camp

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait has launched a medical center at Al-Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, with a cost of USD 400,000 and an annual operating cost of USD 700,000.

Kuwait is continuously supporting Jordan in hosting Syrian refugees, Jordanian Minister of Health Ali Al Hayasat, who inaugurated the center with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Duaij, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

He noted the challenges facing Jordan to provide the increasing numbers of Syrian refugees with education, medical services, electricity and water.

Al-Duaij, on his part, said that the medical center is part of Kuwait's makeshift village in the camp, which includes social centers and about 2000 caravans, established under direct orders by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The new medical center is specialized in maternity and childhood, and is financed by the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) and other Kuwaiti charity organizations.
