Arab League meets Mon. on attacks in Kuwait, Tunisia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab League Council will hold an emergency meeting at the level of permanent delegates to discuss the repercussions of the recent terrorist attack on Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait City during Friday prayers.

Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Ambassador Fadhil Jawad said Sunday in a statement that the meeting will deal with the terrorist attacks that targeted worshippers in Kuwait and tourists in Tunisia.

The meeting, which will be held under a request by Kuwait, will focus on the possibility of promoting cooperation and coordinating security efforts among Arab countries so as to combat the terrorist organizations, mainly the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), he added.

On his part, Kuwaiti permanent delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani said in a statement that Kuwait asked the Secretariat to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the consequences of the blast and means of enhancing Arab solidarity with Kuwait to combat terrorism.

Tunisian Ambassador to Egypt and permanent delegate to the League Mahmoud Al-Khomeiri said his country supported the Kuwaiti request in order to discuss risks of terrorism that threaten security of Arab countries.
