Kuwait- Historic Scene Of Solidarity At Grand Mosque

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Grand Mosque in Kuwait witnessed a historic scene of solidarity Saturday night, with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah amongst the first to arrive at the mosque to offer their condolences and solace to the families of the victims in the bombing of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque. His Highness the Amir asserted that this cowardly act of terror will not affect national unity nor shake the interior front.

He said the people behind this monstrous act and anyone affiliated to them will be brought to justice and they face the consequences of their acts. He also instructed all concerned authorities to quickly repair the damages caused by the bombing and rebuild the mosque. Meanwhile, heads of the legislative and executive authorities; as well as a number MPs, ministers and top officials also offered their condolences along with a large number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti mourners. Every institution in the country had at least one or two representatives who attended and offered their condolences, epitomizing the exact definition of unity against terrorism. Considering the fact that the Grand Mosque is the biggest Sunni mosque in the State of Kuwait, this national consolation will forever be written in history books; for it did not matter whether one is Sunni or Shiite because what mattered was that everyone is united for Kuwait.

The source did not go into details regarding the phone call which is suspected to be related to the bombing, indicating the former MP is known to be active in the Syrian conflict. On the other hand, the Ministry of Interior has raised the alert level and preparation in oil sector facilities, governmental institutions and houses of worships.

Commenting on speculations and conspiracy theories spreading through social media, the ministry stressed all these are false; especially the reports published in some local newspapers that the ministry received information about a possible terrorist attack four days prior to the bombing of the mosque. The ministry said it cannot ignore any intelligence report which threatens national security, while several teams of dedicated security personnel are monitoring this issue round the clock.
