(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: A Saudi soldier was killed in a rocket attack on the border with Yemen the Interior Ministry said.
The rocket fire in the southern city of Jazan killed Faisal Mohammed Belqasem Maqaadi and wounded another soldier the SPA said quoting a ministry statement.
It did not specify the source of the fire but cross-border shelling by Yemeni rebels has become common since Riyadh launched an air campaign against the Iran-backed Shiite Houthis in late March.
Meanwhile at least five Houthis were killed Saturday in Yemen's central province of Al-Bayda during heavy clashes with the Popular Resistance Front loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi Al Arabiya News Channel reported.
Other clashes between the two factions in Yemen's western governorate of Raima led to the killing of a Houthi leader according to the channel.
In Aden at least 13 Houthis were killed after heavy clashes with the Popular Resistance broke out. The battles came after Houthi forces fired missiles at storage tanks at an Aden oil refinery starting a large fire.
Aden's deputy governor Nayef Al-Bakri called for the intervention of the international community to save the war-torn city.
