(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Belgian Foreign Ministry Saturday has updated its travel advice for its citizens travelling to Greece after a Eurzone meeting declined to extend the bailout programme for Athens which expires on 30 June.
Belgian media quoted a foreign ministry spokesman saying "just make sure you take out an adequate travel insurance and also bring enough money with you." The spokesman pointed out that travelling in the country is safe. "Demonstrations and strikes can cause disruptions, but it's a safe country for travel." Greece has to repay 1.6 billion euro to the IMF on 30 June.
After the Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras today called for a referendum on the bailout programme calling for a referendum next week, reportedly lines have begun to form outside ATMs and bank in Athens. One bank has imposed withdrawal limits of 3,000 euro per account, according to media reports.
