Kuwait mosque blast continues to draw worldwide condemnations

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The terrorist bomb attack, that hit at Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in downtown Kuwait City and left 27 deaths and 227 injured among the worshippers on Friday, continues to trigger condemnations from across the world.

In Rome, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi expressed Italy's solidarity with the Kuwaiti leadership, government and people in the wake of the horrible attack.

Italy stands by Kuwait, as well as France and Tunisia which were hit by similar terrorist attacks yesterday, he wrote on his Twitter account, affirming the need for all countries to stand united in the face of hate and extremism.

On a similar note, Italian President Sergio Mattarella expressed in a statement condolences for the families of the victims of "the brutal attacks" in the three countries, highlighting the need for the international community to respond firmly and immediately to terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Cairo-based Arab Writers Union (AWU) strongly denounced the attacks which claimed dozens of innocent lives in Kuwait, Tunisia and France.

"It's a paradox that the terrorist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claims to be waging Jihad (holy war) and kills innocent fasting Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan," the AWU said in a statement.

The statement affirmed that these terrorist attacks have nothing to do with the values of Islam.

In the same vein, the Morocco political parties denounced in the strongest terms the cowardly attacks on Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait and a Tunisian hotel, and expressed solidarity with "the two sisterly Arab countries." Leaders of the royalist Popular Movement, the Party of Progress and Socialism, and the 'Istiqlal' (Independence) Party issued almost identical statements to condemn the terrorist attacks and affirm full support to Kuwait and Tunisia.
