MoT to show Oman's potential as events hub at London show


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Following its success last year the Ministry of Tourism will exhibit its MICE (meetings incentives conferences and exhibitions) potential at the Meetings Show in Olympia London from July 7-9.

Featuring more than 460 exhibitors the event will have an audience-focused education programme networking and the UK's largest hosted buyer offering. Oman will also be celebrating its first-ever ranking in the top 100 countries worldwide for meetings and conventions industry by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

It has also been ranked in the top 25 countries in the Asia Pacific-Middle East region. To celebrate the ministry will run a social media competition during the three days of the show. The contest will see distribution of a pre-charged mobile phone USB charger to the first 40 visitors who post something regarding Oman's pavilion at the show accompanied by a picture of it on Facebook or Twitter. 

The ministry will be supported by Oman Air Al Bustan Palace a Ritz-Carlton Hotel The Chedi Muscat Shangri-La's Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa Tour Oman Bahwan Travels and 1001 Events as stand partners. Oman's rankings precede the opening of the new Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre due to open in the first quarter of 2016.

Surrounded by natural landscapes overlooking a wadi which is a haven for Oman's exotic bird life the centre is located only ten minutes from the new Muscat International Airport. Perfect for hosting international regional and national conventions exhibitions and business events it comprises a tiered auditorium with a capacity to seat 3200 people. It has more than 22000sq m of column-free exhibition space.
