Kuwait- Pinoys Advised To Remain Calm But Vigilant At All Times


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Philippine embassy officials met on Friday with leaders of various Filipino organizations to welcome the newly assigned Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Renato Pedro Villa and discussed issues and matters concerning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Kuwait as well as tackled briefly on the side the recent suicide bombing incident at the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque that killed 27 people and injured more than 200 others.

Villa urged all Filipinos in Kuwait to remain calm but vigilant at all times and avoid crowded places as a safety precaution. Present during the meeting were Consul General Raul Dado, Labour Attache Cesar Chavez Jr, Consul Jabbar Adiong and other embassy and Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) officials and staff. "We were in the bomb site today. So far there are no OFW casualties. Let's pray," Dado on Friday.

Among the matters discussed during the meeting were requirements in getting an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), PAG-IBIG contributions, payments and benefits, Overseas Absentee Voting, Embassy as venue of meetings, proposal for a monthly Filipino Community Newsletter, paralegal advise to be conducted by Atty Emad Arab on July 31, 2015 and creation of Crisis Management Team. After the meeting with the Filipino leaders, Dado posted an embassy advisory on Facebook with the guidance of Ambassador Villa, urging around 200,000 Filipinos in Kuwait to remain calm after the blast and observe the following:

1. As always, don't panic.

2. The first principle is to stay put in our residences & places of work. Be aware of your surroundings.

3. So far there are no OFW casualties. Let's monitor.

4. The Kuwaiti government confirmed just now that all Filipinos in Kuwait are safe.

5. The Embassy is monitoring the situation with Philippine groups and leaders.

6. Be careful in going to crowded places like some malls, or staying out late at night.

7. Most of all, even as you are careful, go on with your normal activities. Life & work go on.
