Qatar- Traditional Ramadan markets big draw at Katara

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Visitors to Katara can shop in the traditional Ramadan markets and enjoy the ambience at the cultural village during its Ramadan Festival, which is being held under the theme "Miracles and Inventions".

Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti stressed that having the market on the Katara beach is an opportunity for people to walk around and shop at the same time. Moreover, visitors to Katara can have a fun-filled time and benefit from the different services and facilities offered by Katara as part of its Ramadan programme, including lectures, galleries and different activities.

Dr al-Sulaiti called on the public to follow the activities of the Ramadan markets, which help revive a traditional atmosphere. They also provide an opportunity to people to own traditional goods.

The markets have been receiving a large number of visitors until late in the night, according to a statement from Katara.

"I brought my family to visit Katara after hearing about the Ramadan Festival. We were pleased with the products available at the Ramadan markets in Katara," said Abu Abdul Aziz, a visitor, noting that the breeze on the beach and the designated seats made the experience even more enjoyable.

He thanked the management of Katara for the "wonderful and rich Ramadan atmosphere offered" to visitors.

"I am used to performing Ramadan night prayers (Taraweeh) at Katara Mosque. It was a good opportunity to visit the Ramadan markets and I really enjoyed the sweets on display and sitting by the beach," said Um Hind, another visitor, while Sameh found the ambience at the markets similar to the one in his country. "The layout of the markets is something great and unique."

Katara's Ramadan markets are made up of two parts. The first one is on the esplanade opposite Mamig restaurant. It has stalls selling perfumes, incense, Moroccan kitchenware and abayas and also features a storytelling corner. The second one is on the Katara beach, where traditional food, sweets, Persian rugs and traditional kitchenware are on offer.

The markets remain open from 8.30pm until midnight.
