Qatar- Minister inaugurates Fereej Aspire


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari inaugurated activities of 'Fereej Aspire' cultural and heritage, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation.

The event runs until the 19th of Ramadan on July 6 as part of activities for the holy month, Qatar News Agency reports.

Dr Al Kuwari toured the venue and was briefed on its components, including tents hosting traditional crafts and attended a performance of songs by children and traditional Qatari games.

Aspire Zone officials said the event features activities, offering visitors the chance to practise traditional Qatari sports, sample traditional Qatari food and discover the art of traditional storytelling and crafts.

There are additional activities and opportunities to win prizes.

Activities include the 'Sloom' programme in collaboration with Qatar Charity to revive Qatari traditions.

The programme includes lectures, forums, traditional competitions and tents such as Al Akass, Al Nawakhda, Al Durzi, Al Khraz and Al Meqnas.

The Fereej, which means a traditional neighbourhood or community, allows visitors to enjoy Qatar's heritage and traditions.

The event, in partnership with Vodafone Qatar and Sports Corner, is open daily from 9.30pm until midnight.
