UK population increases to 64.6 mln
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UK Office for National Statistic (ONS) announced Thursday that the population growth in mid-2013 reached a total of 64.6 million.
The report revealed a rise in the UK population between 2013-2014 due to a hike in net international migration by around 260,000 people, adding that approximately 583,000 settled in UK, while around 323,000 left the country, said the report by ONS.
Net international migration in mid-2014 is the highest since mid-2011 and up by 76,300 from 183,400 last year, statement added.
The median age of younger population increased at mid-2014 was 40 years, and the number of older people continues to rise, with over 11.4 million aged 65 and over in mid-2014, it pointed out. (end) mrn.hs
