OIC condemns attack against UAE relief convoy in Somalia

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned Thursday the "terrorist attack" that targeted a UAE relief convoy in Mogadishu, Somalia yesterday, which killed 12 people and wounded several others.

This terrorist act against key partners like the UAE, which is effectively engaged in contributing to the peace building and reconstruction process in Somalia, is clearly intended to scare the international community, which has been striving to reconstruct Somalia and re-establish peace in the country, OIC's Secretary General Iyad Madani said in a statement.

Madani urged the UAE to continue with its noble mission, and disallow "enemies of peace from achieving their evil goals and plans," expressing sincere condolences to the UAE, as well as government and people of Somalia for the tragic incident and the loss of precious lives.
He also reiterated OIC's principled stand that rejects all forms and manifestations of extremism and terrorism, conforming the OIC's determination to continue supporting efforts towards restoration of peace and stability in Somalia.
