AP Telangana fight over HRD institute


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The AP government has staked claim over Centre for Good Governance located on the premises of Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad — The post-bifurcation blues continue to haunt Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh. After wrangling over sharing of river waters power employees and assets the two states are now locked in a fresh row over who should control the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) a premier HRD institute.

Amid the ongoing battle of wits over the control of law and order in the common capital of Hyderabad the AP government has staked claim over Centre for Good Governance located on the premises of Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad.

The Chandrababu Naidu-led AP government issued a GO giving senior IAS officer Mukesh Kumar Meena who is ex-officio Secretary to the State government full additional charge of the Centre for Good Governance.

However the controversy arose as the Telangana government has already appointed its senior IAS officer K Ramakrishna Rao Special Secretary (finance) as Director General of the CGG. The AP government’s move has angered the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who contended that the institution located in Hyderabad must come under the control of Telangana government.

The AP government issued another GO directing institutions listed under Schedule X to transfer all bank balances belonging to AP to the Pre-Deposit Accounts in the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts AP or any branch of the nationalised banks situated in AP.

Originally established as the Institute of Administration in 1976 the organisation was renamed as the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in 1998 and is responsible for facilitating training and providing HRD inputs to all public functionaries of the State.

The Institute has over a period of time built state-of-art infrastructure and facilities and has been supporting government initiatives related to capacity building for reforms good governance change management and revamping delivery systems.
