One UAE 3 Saudi soldiers lay down lives for Kingdom


(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: Shelling by Iran-backed Shiite Houthi militia killed three soldiers from Saudi Arabia and one from the UAE stationed on Yemen's border with the Kingdom media reported on Thursday.
Two Saudi soldiers were killed at sunset Wednesday when a rocket landed in Jazan the Saudi-led coalition said the SPA reported.
It did not specify the source of fire but cross-border shelling by the Houthis has become frequent since Riyadh launched an air campaign.
The statement said a Saudi border guard was killed at the Alab crossing point in Asir without elaborating.
On Monday an Emirati soldier died in a border skirmish with Houthi fighters the statement added.
A spate of bombings in Sanaa continued on Thursday as a remote controlled device detonated outside the state news agency according to residents killing a Houthi fighter and wounding two others.
Meanwhile the UN Security Council said Thursday that commercial cargo ships carrying food fuel and other vital supplies must be allowed to reach ports in Yemen which is threatened by famine.
