Memphis TN June 10 2015: April Blair who is better known by her pen name Skyy is preparing to release her crowd-funding campaign to bring her popular book series to the big screen on July 5 2015 her birthday and the original release date of the first novel Choices.
After the completion of popular and critically acclaimed Choices series Skyy was back up and swinging with Les Tales a compilation anthology with two other authors Fiona Zedde and Nikki Rashan. She followed up with the release of her first full-length novel separate from the book series Southern Comfort which was met with widespread acclaim. Now she prepares for her biggest endeavor bringing Choices to the big screen.
Choices which tells the story of a group of friends navigating love and life while in college has grown in popularity both nationally and internationally. Touted as the lesbian E. Lynn Harris by fans and critics Skyy’s novels provide storylines and characters that anyone can relate to regardless of orientation. Skyy has attended many top pride events around the country and was featured on The Michael Baisden Show which is a nationally syndicated radio show. Although released almost nine years ago Choices has hit a surge of popularity in 2015 and is more popular today than at it’s release in 2006. All of Skyy’s books still gain critical acclaim as no book has less than a four and a half star rating on Amazon with the majority boasting a five star rating from readers and critics alike.
Skyy has always had her eye on film but finally feels that the time is right to move her books into the film world. She has the support of various lesbian promotional teams and black lesbian public figures. She hopes the crowd-funding campaign will not only be a success but show Hollywood that there is a desperate lack of LGBT film/TV projects and that there is a big market for them. In the end Skyy wants to show the black LGBT in a realistic light and that we are just like everyone else.
